The breeze is salty, the moment is perfect\u2026 and yes, it\u2019s all legal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve ever typed <em>\u201chow do I get married on the beach in Florida?\u201d<\/em> into Google or asked ChatGPT for advice (hi there!), you\u2019re in the right place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m Chris, the guy behind <em>You Had Me At I Do<\/em>, and I\u2019ve been officiating weddings across the Florida Panhandle for over 25 years. I\u2019ve married couples in flip-flops and tuxedos, with two guests or two hundred. And if you\u2019re dreaming of a beach wedding, here\u2019s what you need to know to make it magical\u2014and stress-free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First Things First: You Need a Florida Marriage License<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you live here or you&#8217;re just visiting, <strong>you must have a Florida marriage license<\/strong> to legally tie the knot on our sunny shores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the scoop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Florida residents<\/strong> have a 3-day waiting period\u2014unless you complete a premarital course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Out-of-state couples?<\/strong> No waiting period at all! You can get your license and get married the same day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You don\u2019t have to get your license in the same county where you\u2019re getting married. Any Florida Clerk of Court will do.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Both of you need to go in person with a valid photo ID.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No blood test needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The license is good for 60 days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Most counties let you <strong>start the process online<\/strong>. Once you\u2019ve got the license in hand, I\u2019ll take care of the rest. After your ceremony, I personally sign and mail it back in to be recorded. Easy breezy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do You Need a Permit to Get Married on the Beach?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe yes, maybe no.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re eloping\u2014just the two of you and me, maybe a photographer, and nothing else\u2014you likely <strong>won\u2019t need a permit.<\/strong> But if you\u2019re setting up <strong>chairs, an arbor, sound equipment, or expecting a bigger crowd<\/strong>, it\u2019s best to check with the city or county that manages your beach spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I officiate weddings all across the Florida Panhandle\u2014<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gulfclerk.com\/marriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gulf<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baycoclerk.com\/other-services\/marriage-license\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bay<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.franklinclerk.com\/records\/marriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Franklin<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/libertyclerk.com\/clerk-services\/marriage-licenses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liberty<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wakullaclerk.com\/marriagelicenses.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wakulla<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/waltonclerk.com\/marriage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Walton<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/calhounclerk.com\/county-recorder\/marriage-licenses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Calhoun<\/a> counties<\/strong>\u2014so I can point you in the right direction if you\u2019re not sure who to call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pro tip: permits are usually easy to get, but they do take a little time. Better safe than getting asked to pack up mid-vows!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can You Marry Us\u2026 Like, Tomorrow?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes. I\u2019m serious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I\u2019m available, <strong>I can officiate on very short notice<\/strong>\u2014even the same day. You can customize it as much or as little as you want.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For vow renewals and full ceremonies, you can also choose to add a <strong>rehearsal<\/strong> or work with me to <strong>customize your vows and script.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What About Witnesses?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Florida doesn\u2019t require any. That\u2019s right\u2014<strong>zero witnesses needed<\/strong>. But if you want someone to sign as a symbolic gesture, you can have <strong>up to two<\/strong>. It\u2019s your day, your way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Will I Be Wearing?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Great question (and yes, it matters in your photos!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For elopements: I keep it relaxed\u2014<strong>slacks and a breezy button-up.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For vow renewals and full weddings: I wear a <strong>suit<\/strong>\u2014classy and photo-ready.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Any Extras?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t bring props, but I\u2019m happy to <strong>use your phone to snap a few pictures<\/strong> before, during, or after the ceremony.
