Pronouncement

The sentence everyone is waiting to hear.

The pronouncement marks your marriage within the ceremony and should use the names, titles, and celebratory tone you prefer.

Pronouncement examples.

Traditional
By the promises you have made and the authority entrusted to me, I pronounce you husband and wife.
Simple and inclusive
It is my honor and joy to pronounce you married.
Celebratory
You have chosen each other, made your promises, and exchanged your rings. It is my absolute joy to pronounce you married!
Faith-centered
Having made your covenant before God and these witnesses, I now pronounce you married.
The kiss
You may seal your promises with a kiss.

The invitation to kiss can follow the pronouncement or be omitted entirely.

Introducing the couple

Choose exactly how you want to be introduced after the kiss: by first names, shared surname, individual names, or simply “the newlyweds.”

Confirm names, titles, pronouns, and the introduction before the wedding day. The legal declaration can remain clear without using language that does not fit you.
