Couples often opt to purchase a ‘late night snack’ from their venue or caterer. Typically brought out around 10:00, the snack usually consists of an assortment of pizzas.
While the thought behind it is definitely nice (a little snack to perk up your guests and absorb some of the alcohol), it is completely unnecessary. I speak from experience when I say that I’ve never heard of any guest complaining because there wasn’t a late night snack. Those that have it enjoy it, those that don’t never miss it.
If, however, the late night snack is something you’d like to do, that’s totally fine! Many of my couples do pizzas because they’re cheap ‘comfort food’. Another suggestion would be soft pretzels. These are always a hit. Throw in a little cheese sauce and you’ll have some happy campers.
Another hit is s’mores. This can be done with candles or Sternos (the canned wick and fuel systems that typically heat buffet serving containers). Have some crackers, some chocolate, some marshmallows, some long wooden skewers, and the heat source and your guests will know exactly what to do. If your event is in the cold season, a little taste of summer is a really cool thing. If your venue has an outdoor fire pit, set up a table nearby with some camping forks and the rest of the items to accomplish the same thing.
