Wedding DJs have three seasons – wedding season, booking season, and the off season.
Wedding season runs from April through October. Every weekend is spent giving brides and grooms the wedding day of their dream.
Booking season runs from January through March, mainly because a huge number of couples get engaged on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. Newly engaged, many brides are chomping at the bit to start the planning process. That’s why so many bridal shows are in January and February. We spend insane amounts of time on email, phone calls, and meetings, chatting with potential clients about their hopes and dreams for their wedding day.
And then there’s the off season, November and December. Most people don’t understand the true value of going to bed on Friday night knowing there’s absolutely nothing they need to do on Saturday (except, of course, for the ‘honey do’ list…). It’s a glorious feeling. Don’t get me wrong – I love being a wedding DJ – but after working 12-15 hours every Saturday since April, November and December are a much needed opportunity to relax, recharge, and reconnect with family.
With that said, all of us at You Had Me At I Do wish you an incredible off season! Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa blessings to you and yours, Happy New Year, Happy Festivus, and last but not least…congratulations on your engagement!
We’ll be back after the holidays with new posts.
